PICU stands for Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. It's a specialized area in a hospital where critically ill infants, children, and teenagers receive intensive medical care and monitoring. We have full functional 2 beds PICU at RG Hospital and Medical Research Institute.
Patients: Typically children with life-threatening conditions such as severe infections, breathing problems, traumatic injuries, or after major surgeries.
Staff: Includes pediatric intensivists (specialist doctors), nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals trained in pediatric critical care.
Equipment: Advanced machines for monitoring heart rate, oxygen levels, breathing, blood pressure, and more; also includes ventilators and IV infusion pumps.
Common Reasons for PICU Admission:
Severe asthma or pneumonia
Sepsis or other serious infections
Congenital heart defects
Post-operative care after complex surgery
Neurological issues like seizures or traumatic brain injury
